Riselle is a 43 year old travel and island lifestyle blogger. She is the writer and editor behind The Traveling Island Girl, a blog for the woman over 35 that is looking to travel and experience more. She is also a contributor to the hilarious website Women Who Live on Rocks, was featured in the Girl Gone International e-magazine and occasionally writes for the Winair inflight magazine.
Born on the island of Curaçao but calling St. Maarten home for 17 years now, Riselle caught the travel bug early. Her parents, especially her dad always urged her to see as much of the world as possible. She has called both Curaçao and the Netherlands home. She has a degree in marketing, has worked in radio, dabbled in tv and has extensive experience in the hospitality industry before starting her own event planning company.
Whenever Riselle is not traveling and discovering new Caribbean destinations she can be found on her home island of St. Maarten, where she lives with her husband James and their 8 paw children. Both are big animal advocates and dedicate much of their free time to helping and saving animals in need, whenever their busy schedules managing their bar and vacation rental allows it.
She went through a personal metamorphosis at the age of 40, which has led her to start her blog. She has since made it her mission to inspire and empower all women, but island women in particular, to be more independent and to achieve this mainly through travel. Her blog also serves as an information portal for those women who want to transition from the mainlands to the island life.
She recently started the Traveling Girls Club, a travel group for women that organizes trips to Caribbean destinations.
Riselle is a big supporter of solo female travel and hopes to one day complete her goal to see every island in the Caribbean either by herself or with her favorite travel buddy, her husband James.
