I began writing poetry and keeping a journal when I was a child but soon stopped journaling once I realized that my family didn’t consider a diary ‘private’. At school I participated in poetry and essay writing competitions and that continued into my young adulthood. Nowadays, I’ve found other ways to involve myself in literature and poetry. I am a founding member of Anguilla’s Malliouhana Poetry Competition. I also belong to a Caribbean Authors Book Club and a Writer’s Group (though I almost never write anymore) and over the last few years I’ve come to cherish my contribution to what is now the Anguilla Literary Foundation that organizes the amazing Anguilla Lit Fest; a Literary Jollification!
